The HVAC unit is a big investment if you happen to live in an area where summers can be really hot. Since it is expensive to have it replaced, you want to ensure that it last as long as possible. A good AC maintenance plan is one of the best ways to ensure that your unit lasts as long as it possibly can; this will ensure that it doesn’t lose its efficiency before it’s time and that it won’t cost you a lot of money in avoidable AC repair costs. All that you need to do is to take an active role to ensure that your HVAC unit gets a little extra love, especially during the peak season.

Clean filters: Ensuring that your HVAC has clean filters is the first thing you are going to do; clogged filter will make our unit to push harder for air to go through the filters. When you allow this to go on for a long time, you will not only be forced to pay higher power bills but you will also be damaging the system. Filters should be checked at least once monthly to ensure that things are working out well.

A programmable thermostat: With a programmable thermostat you should be able to adjust the settings on the unit so ensure that it only keeps the temperatures lower or higher when there are people in the house; this ensures that your unit works less tediously and, therefore, extending its lifespan; you will also be paying lower energy bills.

Clean regularly: Most people don’t realize that removing dirt and debris is an important part of AC maintenance; you need to remove any dirt or debris that is caught up in your unit. You need to carefully read the user’s manual so you can know how to clean it correctly. You should be extremely careful when cleaning the condenser coils because dirt causes them to work less efficiently.

Regular Maintenance: Just like you are careful about your car maintenance, AC maintenance needs to be given some careful attention as well. Apart from being good for your unit, it also allows you to foresee potential trouble and deal with it before it is too late.
